Stretching My Style

I'm not much of a Techniquey Stamper, I'm really quite simple in my style I think. I love to colour and add layers, but I get totally inspired by some of the eclectic style of the Stampotique Design Team. I appreciate the altered art and collage creations and wanted to stretch myself a bit with this piece.

The creation of this card started with making the tag. I embossed Timeless with Copper Embossing Powder on a Shipping Tag. I then took several colours of Tim Holtz Distress ink and sponged over the tag. Then I used some Tim Holtz Ideology Designer Paper as a background, sponging the edges with some Creamy Caramel Ink. The card look pretty bare, so I decided to stamp Three Girls

Embellishments include Lace (which I distressed a bit with the Caramel Ink) Antique Brads and Skeleton Leaves from SU

Vintage Postcard tag...

Hi there-  Jane here with a quick tag I made using the Vintage Postcard stamp.  The challenge was to make a tag with a Postcard theme...so what could be better then this image? :)  I sponged with TH weathered wood and black soot then stamped with the Vintage postcard image # 8114.  I ran the tag thru my cb and used a graphic 45 "proper gentleman" cut out car.  tfl!

Tea House

 I made a little house of a tea bag box......a TEA HOUSE!!!!
Once it was made I needed someone to visit it so I invited HEART SHIRT boy!! BIRDS ON A WIRE finished the look and served to hide the messy join at the roof line!!

SDC25: Faux Barnwood Technique

We are so excited today at Stampotique Designer's Challenge!  Have we got the ultimate challenge for you today!

Our hostess this week, Monique challenged our team to use a technique on their creation.  And, we decided to take it a step further and what better place to turn than Pat Huntoon of the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  Stampotique is teaming up with the Technique Junkies team to create using the Faux Barnwood Technique.  We want you to join us this week and you can use the Faux Barnwood Technique or any of the techniques Pat uses on her website.   Please make sure to link within your post which technique you are using.  If you are a Technique Junkies subscriber and using a technique out of the newsletter, please highlight the name and issue you are creating from.

Made this birthday card for the Sunday Postcard Art challenge with theme 'Faces'.

Love Atc..

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine's day.. here's a little Atc that I made to fit inside my hubby's wallet!

I used Distress Inks for colouring the Atc and 2 of my favourite Stampotique Originals stamps..

I added some dimension with a clear glaze pen to add some accent to some of the hearts and to Two Sticks.

Scraplings, what a fun size!

These minicards are called Sraplings. The size is 8,5" x 1,5" or 21,6 x 3,8 cm. (fold them before stamping). I discovered this size recently and it's such a fun size to work with. I kept mine very plain and simple. They make wonderful giftcards.

Birthday wishes!

A bit late but worth celebrating all month when you are having a "milestone" birthday...such as "Mr. Jim" owner of  Stampotique.  Here is my card using the "make lots of wishes" #5020 image.  I stamped it 3 times and colored with copics.  Popped one of them up and put on the Paper Studio dp= polka dot multi.  The happy birthday dp was computer generated.  Phew...glad I'm not having a birthday till August....   :) lol

Little Girl

Today our February Guest Designer, Gerrie Johnnic, shares with us this adorable little girl from Amy Wilson Wellenstein. I love all the colors Gerrie incorporated into this card and the torn frames look fantastic.

She used the level up and torn frames tech from the Technique Junkie Newsletter.

So you bought all those heart and flower stamps for your valentine's cards, but now valentine's is over whatcha gonna do with 'em?
I made this card for a challenge where the theme was "hearts and flowers but not valentines"
I made this card using Stamps from Stampotique.
This card is also a perfect example of what happens when a one layer card goes wrong. I'd stamped and masked the images perfectly and then SMUDGE!!!!!!!
so I trimmed down the main image, embellished and mounted, et voila! a save!


The background uses a flower stencil and some heart sequin waste with victorian velvet distress ink.

Funny little non conventional Valentine!

Happy Valentine's Day! Celebrate today, but remember to love as if each and every day of your life is Valentines Day!

I created this simple card for a Punch Class I taught last week. I apologize for the photograph. The angle at which I shot the photo makes it look as if the Border is horribly uneven, but it's really not :-P)

Anyhow the Owl and Moon are created with Punches, but I used these two fabulous Stampotique Stamps........Hanging Hearts and Just sitting here thinking of you. I've been into creating some Clean and Simple cards as of late........... I'm getting to really like the look of less layers and the level of ease with which they come together

This is a notebook I made from a few large sized tags because I always feel like I can never have enough notebooks! I used 'Olivia' by Daniel Torrente and 'Carol's flower' by Janet Klein.

I used ink sprays to create my background before adding a few splats with more spray inks as well as a bit of acrylic paint, and then stamped the flower randomly all over using two colours of Distress inks:

After binding the book together with my bind-it-all, I stamped a few images on the inside pages of the book using distress inks:

SDC24: Valentine or Love

Join us over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge this morning for our next challenge.  In preparation for the upcoming love themed day many of us will be celebrating, I thought it only appropriate to challenge you with a Love or Valentine's theme this week.  

I don't know how it is in your house, but in mine, we don't celebrate Valentine's Day as much as we celebrate my husband's birthday.  And a little birdie told me that the main man, Jim, at Stampotique also celebrates a birthday that day, so make sure to leave him a little birthday wish in the comments section.

Love is definately in the air! as we head towards St. Valentine's Day.. I've had so much fun making a bookmark for someone special!

Sisters are different flowers from the same garden

I made this card for a one layer challenge where you had to use1 image, a border and bling. I decided to play with photostamps as they are much overlooked in one layer stamping and there really is no reason why they should be. As we all know Photostamps stamp best onto glossy card, but as we all also know versafine is the best ink for detail (yes you can argue archival is good, but I love my versafine). The problem is that the two are not compatible, versafine does not dry quickly (if it ever dries) on glossy card. The soloution: clear embossing powder, or even better... sparkly clear embossing powder!! And that brings in my bling!


I have made this for my sister for her birthday, so inside I added the quote "sisters are different flowers from the same garden" which I did in MS Word.



The flowers are coloured with whispers markers and the bow is paper ribbon.

Welcome our February Guest Designer

 Help us welcome our February Guest Designer-we are so excited to have Gerrie be with us for February!  Here's a little introduction from Gerrie:

Hi, I'm Gerrie Johnnic or some may know me as Queen of Grunge (my blog) or my email addy , Iwork4Stamps .  I love getting inky, and having fun in my work,   I think that's what stamping should be all about.... fun! and of course sharing.  What did I read somewhere, it all started out with just one stamp, and look at me now!  I design for Artistic Outpost and the Technique Junkie Newsletter.  I've been with both companies from the beginning, first as a subscriber for the TJNL and then joining the team, and Artistic Outpost since they opened the store.  

 I love doing backgrounds and techniques in all my art.  I've recently branched out into some altered art, and of course it's all grungy.  I live in SW Florida, far from my DD and stamping gives us something to share together, at least that's the excuse we use.  I adore all the designer lines that Stampotique carries.  The variety of stamp artists just excites me every time I see something posted.  Thanks for having me as a guest artist this month.
