I've been playing with Kira's fabulous 'smitten moustache monsters' in my A5 journal.  They are such a lot of fun :)  I don't know how I've resisted colouring them in, they are just shouting out for it ... but not on this page, today I wanted the black and white contrast.

an art journaled tag

I had a bit of a play with my versamark inkpad this week.  I used it to create a different effect with my inky background, stampeding  'sometimes I pretend to be normal ...' repeatedly.  I heat set it then added dylusions inks.

Some splashing of water, and extra stamping and I was happy with my background for the artichoke monster.  I used an old map for my background journal page!

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a postcard to share.

It features stamps designed by Roc Nicholas
(as well as a few in the background that are harder to see in this pic).

Is that bird playing a dangerous game of hide and seek?

Stamps by Stampotique Originals:
Feline, Just Be U, Heart Vine, Scalloped Lace Border,
Jo's Flower Block, Vintage Script, Vintage Postcard

The background has been created with vibrant colors of Dylusions sprays.  Feline has been stamped on patterned paper and plain paper.  The colorful parts of the cat have been colored with Copics on the plain image and then cut out and applied to the patterned paper cat.  Just Be U has ben stamped on other papers made with Dylusions sprays and then cut out and applied to the background with Feline above it.  The border has been stamped on patterned paper, painted with white acrylic paint, cut out and applied to the edge of the card.  The word Just and the Heart Vine have been stamped directly on the background and colored with Copic markers.  Unseen background stamps have been stamped on the background paper with Versamark ink and brushed over with Perfect Pearls to make them shimmer in the light (pretty in person).  Faux stitches have been drawn around the edge to provide a border and finish off the piece.

 I'm loving the blog makeover, what do you think?

I mentioned last week that my sewing machine had been calling me, but I have to say that wax and teabags were shouting pretty loudly too!  So I gave in ;)  There's a different tag over on my blog, complete with some detail on how I made the tags.  This one's my favourite though.

I opened up the teabag and stamped 'journey collage' on one side using an archival blank ink, then treated the other side just like a page in my art journal!  I sprayed some Dylusions ink on the teabag then stenciled on some white paint through a harlequin stencil.  The heart was stitched on after waxing the teabag, and the word 'love' added afterwards too.

Doesn't she just look like she's contemplating something as she handles her spider like a yoyo?!

I just love spider girl.  After creating a background with acrylic paint, dylusions spray ink and a stencil I stamped spider girl directly onto the paper.  I then stamped her again onto tracing paper (as her face looked too pale on cartridge paper) before cutting her out around her body and face and gluing her onto the previously stamped image.  Stamping it first means you don't lose the detail such as her hair and the spider.

Another scrap of tissue paper, stamped with Journey Collage, under her feet, and the words 'just thinking' added using Jill Penney and Daniel Torrente's Alphabitties completes my mini journal page...but I'm adding Hopscotch to my wishlist as I think that would have worked well as part of the background :)
