Kim's wonderful news had me in the craftroom today (generating scraps! LOL!)  Here's a little tag I created today using a few of those scraps:

Friendship Bunnies

These images have been sitting around on my desk for some while and I finally took the time to create some cards with all of them.  This is using the Blueberry Bunnies in a Basket stamp with the We Cannot Part with Our Friends sentiment.  I thought it was quite appropriate with this darling image.

My Dark Angel

Here is my dark angel in Halloween style. I love that angelboy stamp; it's one of my favourites. Made the background with liquid watercolours.
Stamps I used are all Stampotique Originals:
3014 - splatter long
3025 - web
3031 - abstract foliage
3037 - old english halloween
6106 - angelboy
6117 - birds and bugs cube
7164 - numeric

Mr. Snow

I chose a pretty simple image for this card, using Mr. Snow and paper piecing his tie with some Jovial design paper from Basic Grey.  I decided not to color any of it and just let his tie stand out but now that I look at it, I may color his hat and nose to make him POP a little more.  I stamped my background with some snowflakes  in Berry Sorbet to create a contrasting background to the Green papers.  I sewed around the green/Jovial panel-I'm so happy to have my sewing machine in order again!

Carrot 'Bout You

Isn't Carrot just the cutest?  I had some colored images laying around so decided it was time I put together a few cards with them.  This card came together really quick since I had everything already stamped and I didn't add any embellishments on...hmm, no embellishments, might have to change that now that I'm looking at it.

The layout I used was one of the Clean & Simple Stamping layouts, FTL101.  Obviously I changed the star out for a large circle to put Carrot on and of course the "I carrot about you" sentiment always makes me smile, hope you like it too!

Cardstock: Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, SEI Oasis patterned paper

Inks: Chocolate Chip, Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics

Accessories: Circle nestabilities

Naughty Weasel

I had this journal page in my mind so when the new stamps arrived I got straight down to inking and painting! {6115 Weasel} is great (although I think he may have 'issues') and his sign is so versatile - here I took one of the hearts from {6119 Hanging Hearts} to act as the 'o' and wrote the other letters on.

Masking technique

With these photos i will try and show you how to use masks to create an overlapping look with your stamps.

Stamp the images you want to use on a piece of self adhesive paper ( i use post-it paper) Be sure it is non stick glue! We do want to be able remove the masks when we want to!

Now take your masks and set up a composition of the set you want to see on your card. Using masks gives you a good look on how the finished card is going to look like and it is an easy way to play around with the images without having to actually stamp.

If you have found the composition you like,remember ( or write down) the main focus on the card. That is the image you want to stamp first! It will be in front of all the other images.

Set aside the masks. They can be used again and again until they loose their stickyness.

Stamp your focus images. Since i want to use watercolors later, i emboss my images.

Take the masks and mask the images.

Stamp the next image. Since this is partially blocked by the masks,it will appear to be behind the first stamped images.

Mask the third pumpkin...

...and stamp the picket fence.

Mask the fence and stamp the tree. Remove all masks and you have a great base for a card. All it needs is some color.

Quick and simple men's cards

Male cards are notoriously difficult so I've made some that won't take too much thinking time!
I've cut a circle in a sheet of paper and used it as a mask for spraying Glimmer Mists, then picked up some of the excess ink to colour {6078 Smile} and {6032 Rocky}.

I've also used Jo's {3014 Splatter Long} to 'ground' them.

They've been finished with a rub-on greeting.

Welcome our October Guest Designer

At Stampotique we are thrilled to announce our Guest Designer for the month of October.  Some of you may recognize her as one of our frequent players of our challenges.  Please help us welcome Shannon Sawyer who will start playing with us with our first challenge in October.  Here is some more about Shannon:

My name is Shannon Sawyer and I've been doing different forms of Mixed Media & stamping for over 11 years now.  I had initially started when I stopped working back in 2000.  I wanted a hobby that would keep me busy.  Instead of finding a hobby, I found a whole world of like minded people and all kinds of different forms of artwork that consumed me.  

I've been published man times in the various Stampinton magazines and I have also been published in Craft Stamper from the UK.  I was recently asked to join the On Call Artist team for the Stampington publications, I am a Design Team member of AlphaStamps and I work a lot with ArtChix Studio.

My new stamps came this morning!!! I had to have a play so made this VERY quick card.........I have to say the detail in that tree is fabulous and the pumpkins..........well I just LOVE those!! OK, off to play some more.
