Making use of ink spills

I like to keep a sketchbook to mop up any ink spills or to save any ink left on a stencil, so this is how this page started out:

I added Winter by Daniel Torrente and coloured her with Distress Inks. She looks so miserable and dejected, I couldn't resist adding my favourite sentiment from Carol's collection. This one makes me laugh out loud!

Thanks for looking!

Our January guest designer, Laura Liddell shares with us her altered mobile art.

Love how this is a mobile, this would look great hanging in the studio as a wonderful source of inspiration!

hidden message card by Joanne Wardle

Continuing the "try something new" theme for the Happy Daze challenge, I thought that sometimes the easiest way to give something new a try is to copy something you've seen in a magazine.

I'm cheating a little here as I'm copying my own idea from my article in this month's Craft Stamper Magazine, which used Stampotique Stamps

The card is a tent fold card with a gap at the top to hold a strip of card.
I used the wonderful moon girl, as well as Daisy Daisy, hearts Cubed and Each life.

The instructions are in this month's craft stamper magazine.

The Owl and the Aperture by Joanne Wardle

This is a card that I made for the Less is more challenge which is Birds, but it's also One Layer week. I've decided to (yet again) mess with my one layer card by cutting an aperture. This time a circular(ish) one. I really don't like cutting circles, they never quite work, so don't look to closely!!
I stamped the bird, then drew around a circular object. I used a craft knife to cut sround the detail of the owl and then the reamining part of the circle.
I've stamped the sentiment inside the aperture.

both stamps are by Stampotique.

trying a new technique by Joanne Wardle

The challenge theme at Happy Daze this month is "something new"
I saw this technique on Pinterest recently and knew I had to try it.

It's so quick and easy, yet I think it's really effective. Just stamp, cut some detail with a craft knife and then just tear!

The stamp is from Jo Capper-Sandon's range at Stampotique.

my wish for the new year by Joanne Wardle

Unfortunately I missed the deadline for the design team post for the current challenge, due to being quite poorly.
so here it is!

and my wish is ...Happiness.
The challenge at stampotique is "wish for the new year".
I decided to decorate a bauble with the Happy Definition from stampotique. This can then go on a bottle as a gift for a new year party host. I like the idea of giving decorations at new year, as people still have their trees up.

I stamped the definition repeatedly onto creamy/brown tissue paper, then tore it up (to remove the birthday bit of the definition. I attached this to small bauble with mod podge, left to dry and then sprayed with varnish.

A New Year!

It's the start of a new year and that can only mean one thing .... yes, it's time to get my calendar pages ready for 2012! Although we haven't had any snow this winter in my part of the world, January is a good month for snow, so with that in mind I chose to use Snowy Fran by Daniel Torrente to decorate my page.

You can read more about the calendar challenge on my blog here.

Happy new year everyone!
