it's roc here, so it must be monday.  here is a little altered envelope love.  i can't seem to make enough of these.  i've used my learning to fly stamp.  hope you are flying to new heights this year!

This week I made an art journal page again with my Gelli Plate. I stamped Roc's Angel on the page, paper pierced her and colored her with Distress Markers.

Vintage theme

 
 

I thought I would join in on France Papillon's vintage theme this week at the Stampotique Designer's Challenge.  This image of my husband's mother Leah featured in the stamp Summer of 32 really fits this request to go vintage.

I really enjoyed creating this faux vintage piece with teabag stained muslin.  This pin cushion is filled with rice and will hang in my sewing room on my grandmother's oak Hoosier.  My mother passed two years ago yesterday and had used grandmother's Hoosier as her sewing station.  Now it's become mine.  It was very therapeutic to celebrate and honor my and my husband's mother this week. The buttons used in this piece were from my mother's collection.

Vintage - Wednesday's With Claudine

Wow, what a week it's been so far, we are knee deep into Spring Break!! WOOHOO!! My daughter turns 16 on the 30th and we are thrilled. What a beautiful young lady she is becoming.

For this week's challenge over at the Stampotique's Designers Challenge Blog our hostess is France Papillon and she has challenged us to do something Vintage looking.

This was a toughie for me, Vintage is not my forte' and I'm not so good at it. I love the challenge though and always try and look at something straight in the eye and just GO FOR IT!!

I made a background with patterned paper, math problems and spread gesso and then sprayed with Color Wash and also did some stenciling

I created the flowers with the Big Shot and some Tim Holtz dies and just added lace and buttons and other bits and bobs here and there

roc here.  yup..it's monday again.  today i made an altered envelope - one of my most favorite things to do.  they just make for a happy mail day for someone.  i used a few of my rubber stamps to create this.  a few obvious ones are the stacked love stamp and the flying heart stamp.  there is one stamp, however, that i used in a most unusual fashion.

Hello you!! Today I have something different, a little monster box. I saw the amazing Kate Crane using a little matchbox and wanted to try this too. It was a fun little project, but it was also a real challenge to work so small. I used an ordinary matchbox from the grocery store and made a little wrapper for it. Used my Dylusions sprayinks and a lot of Kira's lovely monsters.

Yesterday was International Happiness Day so I decided to theme this week's projects around happiness.  I've put a different project over on my blog.  Stamping and playing with paint AlwAys makes me happy!!

A while ago I made up a collection of cards and tags using scrap background paper from my table and decided to use these for my backgrounds.

Batch birthday cards

Is there a particular month where there seem to be an abundance of birthdays?  We have a group that seems to have many celebrations in one month.  This is a perfect time to stamp some variations for an array of cards.  Since you are working with like images and materials you can create a birthday batch of cards in a sitting!

I began with my Stampotique birthday cube with candle. These little cards measure 4"x 3.5".  A 2" x 2"  square of white cardstock is centered in the upper portion of pastel cardstock.  Scrapbook paper is added to close the area under the square.  More info and how I presented these to the birthday gals and guys can be found at veralanestudio.com.

Tuesday with Val and Watercolor Techniques

Hi everyone!

It's terribly cold here today so I have been daydreaming about summer.

This gorgeous little stamp takes me back to the beach with my brother when I was young.

This quick little watercolor technique suits this image perfectly.

To achieve this look:

1. Pounce three distress inks beside each other onto your craft mat and spritz them with water. Here I have used Squeezed Lemonade, Evergreen Bough and Broken China.
2. Push a nice multimedia paper or watercolor paper into the wet ink and twist or move gently to get good coverage and nice blending.  (If the color is too dark, spritz with more water.  If the color is too light, dry the craft mat and repeat with less water.)  
3. Dry the image with a heat gun.
4. Stamp image with Versafine Onyx Black ink (or other insoluble ink).
5. Heat set the image with a heat gun.
6. Using a small watercolor brush, brush a bit of water into areas you wish to lighten and dab those areas with an absorbent towel to remove a bit of color. Here I have done the shirts and the hat.
7. Heat the image one last time to dry the lightened areas. They will lighten a bit more when dry.

it's roc here, so it's that time once again - monday! i have made an altered envelope to give away.  details for the give away are on my blog.
to make the envelope i used quite a number of my rubber stamps.  they are:  artiste block, flying heart, stacked boxes and scooter girl. 
i was really pleased how using the bottom of the flying heart made a pennant-like border on the top of the envelope.  i'll be using that again in the future.

This week a got a reaction from Kay Wallace, it's snowing again

where she lives. Snow? We haven't seen it this year in the

Netherlands and last week it was spring.

Garden chairs outside and faces to the sun!

Love it, no winterjacks, sitting on a terras

at the ZOO! That's why I had to use this stamp.

This time on the backside of a Gelliprint.
Is was so busy to make a Gelliprint that I didn't
noticed that on the backside the brayer made
a beautiful background.
Happy accident!

Story behind the stamp, with a touch of green

Kristen is hosting over at the Stampotique Designer's blog.  The SDC138 challenge she has set for us uses green.  How could I resist as green seems to always be in my go-to palette? 

Stamps used in this card are:
Lissi  and Happy Birthday.

I upcycled and stitched waste paper from my crafting surface.  Cropping the paint marks made for an interesting background. I added some homemade washi tape and stamped the two images with black Staz On.  I machine stitched without thread to create a pierced border.

Prima paper freebie from the centrefold of an old magazine.

I don't know about you, but I always find it difficult cutting double-sided paper
even though I do love how the colors match so well!

Quasimoto 5, Eiffel Tower, Love, Paris Postcard

To achieve this look, cut out the pre-printed centre piece and mount it onto the background mat made from the opposite side of the page.  Mask off the flowers and stamp the Paris postcard across the centre.  Stamp the Eiffel Tower on coordinating paper, cut it out and mount it onto the front of the card.  Stamp Quasimoto onto coordinating paper, color with Copic markers and mount onto the Eiffel Tower.  Finish off the card with the Love stamp in the corner.

This week I was reading in the Craft Stamper.

Love the ideas they gif us every time.

I was reading an article about playing with Distress Paint.

Put some on your Craftsheet, spray water on it.

Sweep your paper through it and look what you got.

I got this background, perfect for an ATC.

I colored the flower all black and stamped a

part of a text stamp.

Used stamps: Spidergrass and one person's weed

When I saw that Roc, Val and Janet had all used Roc Nicholas's just be u image I thought it might be fun to use it too, and continue demonstrating how versatile just one stamp can be!

 .  

I sprayed a scrapling with Dylusions inks then stamped Daniel's hearts in the background before adding just be u in black ink.  I then stamped this again on some book paper, cut out the larger letters and added them to the scrapling.

I used Val's idea of blocking in the shadow and if you look carefully, you can see some added sparkle on the letters ( I used metallic gold thread in my sewing machine).  The little bird was paper pieced from some scrap painted paper.

Five minute card

This past week has been a whirlwind and I've had precious little time in my studio.

Here is a fast and simple card that was stamped, colored, layered, and stitched in about five minutes.

I used Maria Sabina Raita's enjoy today quote and the sweet little bird is trimmed from Roc Nicholas's just be u image. 
Sometimes when we don't have time, a little something something is all we need for that quick creative fix.

Feline, Just Be U, Heart Vine, Scalloped Lace Border,
Jo's Flower Block, Vintage Script, Vintage Postcard

The background has been created with vibrant colors of Dylusions sprays.  Feline has been stamped on patterned paper and plain paper.  The colorful parts of the cat have been colored with Copics on the plain image and then cut out and applied to the patterned paper cat.  Just Be U has ben stamped on other papers made with Dylusions sprays and then cut out and applied to the background with Feline above it.  The border has been stamped on patterned paper, painted with white acrylic paint, cut out and applied to the edge of the card.  The word Just and the Heart Vine have been stamped directly on the background and colored with Copic markers.  Unseen background stamps have been stamped on the background paper with Versamark ink and brushed over with Perfect Pearls to make them shimmer in the light (pretty in person).  Faux stitches have been drawn around the edge to provide a border and finish off the piece.

Happy Sunday! This week I have an art journal page for you. I love it quick and dirty and so this mop-up technique is perfect for me. I sprayed some Vibrant Turquoise and Lemon Zest Dylusions on my craft sheet, sprayed some water on it and put my paper in it. Love the look of this. And is this quote stamp not awesome and so true!!

It's so messy but the results are mostly so wonderful
