Faux Tintypes

Amy Wellenstein has created these faux tintype pieces (faux tintypes) using Splatter 8832, Clover 6086 and Karin 6108.

Love how these look like they are framed!

 

Autumn Splendor

For this card, I created a background with this Beautiful Leaf   Stamp. First I stamped the leaf in rust on the card base. I then stamped the leaf with versamark ink onto the shipping tag and heat embossed with gold powder. I added a few splatters in Tea Dye Ink with the Splatter Long stamp and then sponged over with Rusty Nail and Scattered Straw. The sentiment enjoy life was stamped on rust and sponged with Rusty Hinge ink All Stamps are from Stampotique Orginals. My Two fibers included Crumb Cake Seam Binding and Natural Hemp Twine. Embellishments: Skelton Leaves, Vintage Brad and a clip! I really enjoyed creating this Autumn Card because I TOTALLY love Autumn and I don't really tend to create backgrounds and such!

mistletoe bird house by Joanne

The new monthly challenge at Happy Daze is Christmas or Hallowe'en.

The design team were given these tiny little wooden bird houses to play with. Unsurprisingly I kept mine simple. The only stamp I used is Jo's Mistletoe stamp from Stampotique.

Spooky Printer Tray

I used a selection of stamps from the September 2010 Release to make this chipboard Mini Printer Tray.

I have used:
~{Web}~ on the background for one square
the spider and 2 birds from ~{Birds and Bugs Cube}~
~{Tree}~
all of ~{Halloween Cube 2}~
and the bat and skull from ~{Halloween Cube 1}~

I coloured these with Inktense pencils and they have all been stuck with silicone glue to allow dimension. Some have Crackle Accents on them for interest.

Altered Envelope

Roc has created an altered envelope this week and WOW!  Look at the amazing colors on this envelope!

She used the Relaxin' stamp set as the main image and the pumpkins are from the Halloween cube #2- 6110.  The Tree 6112 can be faintly seen in the background along with the Spirit definition #7077.

To be a star ..

I am so fond of quote and sentiment stamps and I absolutely love the Stampotique ones! For this card I made an alcoholink background that I stamped on with Stazon Jet black. This odd card template is one of my favorites. These are the stamps I used: Angel, Text stars, Twinkle, twinkle .. and To be a star .

Joyful Atc

Stamps used: Joyful, & Splatter Long

I stamped Joyful onto white cardstock and inked around the edges adding water to make the ink run slightly and distress the background dabbing with a cloth.

Joyful  was stamped once again onto more white cardstock then I cut around the image and mounted her on foam to add some dimension... the ribbon and flower are from my craftbox.. simple but so much fun.. one of my favourite stamps!

Roc Nicholas is a self taught artist who lives in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania.   She works out of her home based art studio wheres she also teaches art and stamping classes. She loves to experiment and uses a variety of different media, but loves to include rubber stamps, when creating her art. Roc was a contributor to the book “Good Mail Day: A Primer for making Eye-Popping Postal Art” as well as other art and international stamping magazines. AMY WELLENSTEIN

Mixed-media artist Amy Wellenstein is drawn to the printed word, the graphic image, and the stories they tell when combined.  She specializes in collage, jewelry, and paper arts.  Formally trained in metalsmithing, Amy constructs intimate contemporary pieces of sterling silver filled with bits of ephemera, found objects, and vintage beads.  The results are tiny narratives to bless and adorn the wearer.

Since 2001, Amy has taught collage, jewelry, and paper arts workshops in Arizona, California, and New England.  Her work has been featured in Somerset Studio magazine, several books, and other paper arts publications.

 

Amy lives in Peoria, Arizona with her scuba-diving husband and TWITCH the cat.

Bee Notebook

Our September guest designer has been as busy as a bee creating some fun projects to share.  Here is her latest creation.

Bee Notebook by Wendy Price

 

Supplies Used:

• Stampotique stamps (Hexagon & Big Bee)
• Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils
• Archival Jetblack Ink
• twine
• cardboard
• graph/lined paper

Instructions:

1. Using a stamp positioner, stamp hexagon image repeatedly on white cardstock. 
2. Color with watercolor pencils
3. Cut a piece of cardboard to 4 x 8.5 inches. Fold in center.
4. Cover cardboard with stamped paper. Trim edges.
5. Trim graph paper and notebook paper down to 4 x 8 inches. 
6. Place graph paper and notebook paper in cover. Fold and punch holes in spine. 
7. Loop twine through the holes in the spine. Tie with a bow. 
8. Stamp bee on white cardstock and color with watercolor pencils. Cut out and add to cover of book.

splashy dragonfly card by Joanne Wardle

This as a really simple card I made with Jo's new Dragonfly stamp (again) and verse from stampotique. I created the simple background by doing a very small spray of adirondack sprays in 3 colours. I then used the same blue spray with a paintbrush to colour the dragonfly.

Wish Upon a Star

I've used 3 of the new stamps by Jo Capper-Sandon and one from the last release to make this one layer card. Jo has made her stamps so that they can all be interchanged which makes them so versatile.

I have used:
~{Stella}~
~{Wish Word}~
~{Jo's Star}~, and
~{Great Moon}~.

They have been coloured with Copics and the background is Dusky Concord Distress Ink.

Totally spooked!!

Here is a card made using Janet Klein's new Cooper ghost. What a great character he is!! Other stamps used are Daisy Daisy and Swirl Stalks. All available from Stampotique. The number stickers are also from Stampotique and can be found here.

Dogs laugh ...

Isn't he cute this little doggie with his tulip from the new September 2011 release? I made this real quick and easy card for Crazy amigo's, a Dutch challenge site. I used distressinks and water for the background. These are the stamps I used Tulip and Dogs laugh. I used the quotestamp one line at the time by masking the rest of the words and using a stamp ruler to get the words in the right place.

Giant Daisy in Dusty Concord

Maybe this card looks not simple but it is very simple. Just one ink (Distress Ink Dusty Concord), water, a brush, a Crafter's Workshop stencil (mosaic squares mini) and 3 stamps.

Stamps I used are all Stampotique Originals: giant daisy (3058), small butterfly (3018), french text (3016).

Here's a colourful ATC (artist trading card) I made using the new Sweetmoves by Daniel Torrente. She's a little too large for an ATC but I didn't let that put me off! 

I used ink sprays to create the background and then stamped Splatter Long and Sun Design in Distress ink to add more texture. I add a couple of baubles by stamping French Text onto a spare piece of card, hand drew a couple of circles. cut them out and added them to the ATC.

I found the words in an old book of quotes. Some of you may recognise them as they are taken from an English folk song ......

Instructions:

1. Using a stamp positioner stamp hexagon repeatedly on cardstock. Color with pencils.
2. Trim stamped cardstock down to 4.5 inches. Adhere to layout and machine stitch. 
3. Cut quote using Street Sign Cricut Cartridge. Adhere to layout.
4. Stamp bee image twice. Color in and cut out. Adhere to layout with foam adhesive.

• Derwent Inktense Watercolor pencils
• Archival Jetblack Ink

More Rain?!

Hello :0) Long time, no see :0)

Its that time of year again- darker evenings are creeping in quickly for us here in the UK and the solemn moods creep in with the lack of sunshine.

Hope you like this card. One for when someone's day hasn't quite gone to plan.

I used Daisy,Daisy, French Text, Swirl Stalks, Tree, Moon Girl and the new Rain Rain. Drew my own brolly and swing. For further stamp details (codes and links etc) please check out the post on my blog.



The rainy splashy effect is made by splashing water onto a water based ink background.

Dare to stand out ...

Another "10-minute" card from me. I stamped Heads on colored paper and colored some of the faces with my Tombow markers. Then I stamped Dweeze, one of my favorite characters, on white paper. I colored him with the markers too and cut him out (that accounts for most of the 10 minutes..). Glued him to the background and added the printed words.

Grrumpy Tag

Rain rain go away

I was asked recently to do a guest spot on my lovely crafty friend  ~{Kathy's Sketch Blog}~ so I thought what a fab opportunity to share the love of the new stamps!

I used ~{Under The Parapluie}~ which seems to be a very firm favourite of the DT, combined with ~{Rain Rain Go Away}~ which is apt for those of us here in the UK as we approach Autumn at breakneck speed!

I also used part of ~{Daisy Daisy}~ by masking off the rest of the stamp, then added a few white highlights. The main image is coloured with Copics.

Whotcha doin?

It feels like summer is over here in the Netherlands. It's almost autumn when I look out of my window so time for a with an autumn feel to it. I coloured the images with Tombow markers. These are the stamps I used: Rocky, Daisy daisy, Web, Birds & bugs cube and Whotcha doin.

Stella and the dragonfly

This is my piece for the little black dress challenge at Happy Daze. Anyone who has visited my blog will know that my little black dress technique is pencil colouring on kraft card and using my home made stamp positioner to combine stamps to make one layer cards.

I've used these techniques with some of my new favourite stamps from Jo's new collection from Stampotique available from Happy Daze in the UK
Stella and dragonfly are both fantastic stamps to use individually, but combined I think they create something quite magical.
To achieve this effect, stamp Stella first, then create a stella mask from a post-it note, use a stamp positioner to make sure that the dragonfly is in the correct place and stamp the dragonfly.
colour with pencils, and add the quote also from Jo's collection.

Beautiful dreamer

Another tag with a new stamp (Mela) from Stampotique. Used Distress Stains Wild Honey and Fired Brick for the background. The circles are sponged with white acrylic paint. The stamp is coloured with distress inks.

Stamps I used: Mela (6134), dream definition (7065), word collage (7155).

BFF by Joanne Wardle

I made this card using stampotique stamps for the Gingersnap Challenge
I wanted the card to Say BFF and I liked the letters from Stampotique's altered fabulous stamp. To use just these letters, I stamped the stamp onto copy paper and created a stamp mask for each letter as shown. to use, ink the stamp and then attach the mask with tape to the block.

Stamp the stamp (using a positioner if required).
In this case I stamped the letters and girls onto patterned paper, and added "forever" from the word collage stamp.

New Christmas stamps

I was really pleased to see a Daniel Torrente Snowlady in the new release of stamps as I love my snowman. The only thing is, I am limited to only a few people on my Christmas card list who would like them, so I've done 2 similar cards using different styled Snowpeople.

On this card I used the new ~{Snowy Fran}~ alongside ~{Snowman}~ and a couple of heart shaped baubles from ~{Hanging Hearts}.  I've masked the stamps to form a 'scene' and saved myself a lot of cutting!

On this card I've used the new ~{Snow Family}~.

Both cards are coloured with Copics and have snowflakes of Viva Decor Glitter Liner, which is fab as you get great dimension. There really is only a little bit of colouring involved so they are quick to do. I like that!
