SDC71: Case Study/Inspiration

Jenn would like us to be inspired by someones work.
I was inspired by my teammate Maria's work here is the link to her inspiration.
Mind you it is not exactly the same...
I was not going for Plagiarism.
I went for her layout as inspiration.
If you would like to play along to win some goodies from Stampotique click on the link.
Remember that you can use any stamps for our challenges.
There is a lot of "Inspiration" on our Design Team blog.
So don't forget to check that out.

Stamps I used are:

I carrot 'bout you.

Tangled Enthusiasm!

As soon as I saw the brand NEW stamp from Daniel Torrente Tangled Enthusiasm.. I laughed out loud.. every year I struggle decorating the tree and always dread adding the lights!!

 close up of the lights!

my card..

 I know that feeling!

Not one to try black on a Christmas card I think it actually works on this card! I stamped Tangled Enthusiasm onto white cardstock and coloured using Copic pens then matted and layered my card onto some hand-made paper and added the sentiment Merry Evrything!

I hope you like my card. Happy creating, Gez

Witches & Goblins

Just a quick and easy card to share with you today, appropriate for the upcoming festivities- Halloween.  We see a lot of little trick or treaters where we are, the kids have already had a trick or treating event where they got to wear their costumes and start collecting all the candy.

My card uses the cute little Corie.  And if you haven't seen Corie, you should also check out her little partners in crime, Fiddle, Skullboy, Cooper and Frankie.

For my pages I used these Stampotique stamps: Dweeze, Leaf, Abstract folliage, Swirls stalks, Owl tree and Oscar Wilde.

Have fun stamping!

SDC71: Inspiration/CASE Study-Belinda Spencer

My final project!!
(we have loved having Belinda as our guest designer this month!)

For this one I have chosen to scraplift this fabulous project by France Papillon.

I just loved the way France cut away part of the Welcome Door and added those three cute faces as well as her amazing background work.

So using this as a starting point, I gave it my own twist by adding a shadow box to the back of mine so I could create a little scene inside. The door can be opened to reveal what is inside.

The background was coloured with Distress Inks, Glimmermists, Pan Pastels and Gelatos. I used Distress Markers to colour the door and then blended with a water brush pen. Then Rock Candy Distress Crackle was applied over the top.

Thanks for the inspiration France!!

Thankyou also to Stampotique for having me as a guest designer for October. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing with these awesome stamps.

Cheers
Belinda

Resin with ink and it's very pink!!!

Since Moth Fab came into my possession a couple of weeks ago I have hardly stopped using her. I open my stamp draw and I am sure as my hand passes over her she squirms a bit to try and move out of the way. But not so lucky today Miss Fab as here you are again.

Stamps used.

Hang in There By Jenn Cochran

Good morning followers and friends! Hope you are having a spectacular week. I have to say I am now ready to be on the mend. My whole family has been sick! :0( bummer. The only thing cheering my up are these totally adorable little bunnies by the very talented R.Maria Sabina (one of my fellow teammates).  These little guys are sure to put a smile on anyone's face!

This one is Hung Out to Dry

My sentiment is computer generated....and totally appropriate!

These buttons are vintage from a local craft store that shut it's doors this past spring.

I hope you enjoyed my card as much as I did making it!

See you next time!

Expect the Unexpected

Our guest designer for October, Belinda has created a spooky looking card for us today.

My idea for this project was to create a spooky Halloween door that could open. I needed a good quality, heavy cardstock that wouldn’t warp too much so I used watercolour paper.

The door was coloured with Distress Markers and the colours blended with a water brush pen. I applied Rock Candy Distress Crackle over the top.

The background was coloured with Distress Inks and then had Glimmermist flicked over the surface.

The skull and pumpkin were given the same treatment as the door.

I 3D’ed the door handle and added a spider cut from the Spider Girl stamp.

On the inside, I stamped the door again onto vellum and flipped it over so you could see the reverse image of the door. I used the crayon resist technique on the Heads stamp.

Thanks for checking out my card!

Cheers
Belinda

ATC Swap

I was invited to participate in a ATC Halloween Swap...

ATCs are small works 2.5"x3.5".
SO rather than recreate the wheel...
I took some of the cards and journaling pages and made recently and made
miniature works of them for the swap.
So much fun and a great way to use up scraps.
I can't wait to see what comes to me.
Hope you are all well.
Take Care-!

Liar liar

I made this tag when I saw the quote on Facebook and thought it was perfect for the stamp I wanted to use.

I've used acrylic paints for the base, then stamped ~{Fax to Wolfgang}~ and ~{Mesh}~ on the background. I then stamped ~{Oh ... Tree}~ sideways along the bottom as it looks a little like the remains of burnt plants.

I stamped ~{Underwhere}~, coloured him in Copics and cut him out before sticking him in place. I love this stamp!

I've added the quote and a hefty dose of doodling before finishing off with some ribbon.

Halloween Wreath

Hi, Gez here.. this week I've been working on a little project for Halloween and of course, I just had to include a couple of spooky characters by Daniel Torrente & Jill Penney!

The wreath was painted and embellished using lots of Glossy Accents and Crackle paint to add texture and different effects. Sweetmoves & Twinkie were stamped, cut out and coloured with Copic pens.

Thank you for calling today, more details and close-ups can be found on my blog.
Happy spooking! Gez

SDC69:Scrap It!

Today over at Stampotique Designer's Challenge we begin a new challenge.
Jo is our hostess and here is what she says:

"It's my turn to set the theme this week at Stampotique Designer's Challenge so I decided on something that I usually avoid- using photographs along side stamping.

No...come back...don't panic, it's not as scary as it sounds!  As a non-scrapper I too, feel that fear that perhaps washes over so many when the word 'scrapping' is mentioned, but this challenge theme can incorporate your photographs in any way possible either on a page, inside a journal, on a canvas, a mini book, an altered item...anything you wish, just as long as you are using stamping somewhere too.  If you are natural scrapper, this theme couldn't be better!  And if you are not, make it work for you.  Please take a look at the fantastic contributions from the team to see how diverse the artwork has turned out to be."

Our guest designer Belinda shares a beautiful piece with us today:

This project was a perfect one for me as I am primarily a 12” x 12” scrapbooker. Not only that but I love stamping on my layouts and building up layers. On this layout I have done some reverse stamping into heavy body acrylic paint with the Heads stamp, added some quotes to the background using Jet Black Staz On as well as apply some stamps to book paper and cut out as embellishments.

Here are the stamps I used:

Thanks for checking out my 2nd project. Can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with for this awesome challenge.

Cheers
Belinda

A Stampotique month!

Goat Monster by Kira Nichols

I love adding a few Stampotique images to my regular art calendar, and this month was no exception!

Monster line up by Kira Nichols

Kira's monsters make a great addition to any page. I love the way you can separate the monsters from the monster line up and use them individually. Perfect!

Thanks for looking! Kate

SDC Guest Designers: Belinda Spencer

We are bidding farewell to the wonderful Anne Swinkles are our guest designer this month and welcome our October guest designer, Belinda Spencer.  Here's a little bit about Belinda and her first creation as our guest designer.

My name is Belinda Spencer and I have been scrapping since 2003. I live on a farm in the Adelaide Hills with my husband Brenton, my two children; Hayley, 7 and William 6, our dogs Merlin and Ziva, a neurotic brown Burmese called Noodle as well as lots of cows, deer and chooks (not to mention the koalas, kangaroos, snakes and lizards that pop in from time to time).

My main focus for scrapbooking has always been 12” x 12” layouts but more recently I have become addicted to cardmaking and artist trading cards. My style tends to include elements of shabby chic, vintage, fussy cutting and a touch of grunge. I love to include texture, dimension and different techniques. These days I cannot seem to complete a layout or card without gesso, Distress Inks and Glimmermist. My inspiration comes from my children, blog surfing, magazines, product and other scrappers that I admire.I have been published in Scrapbook Creations and Scrapbooking Memories magazines.I currently teach at Charlotte’s Web in Adelaide, am a Design Team member at The Color Room, The Dusty Attic, The Scrapbook Store and Kraft It Up and participate in as many blog challenges as I can fit in each month.I am so thrilled to be a guest designer for Stampotique. I have loved these stamps since I first laid eyes on them. I am thankful that I didn’t have to twist Charlotte’s arm too hard to get her to stock them in her store so I can share these stamps with my class attendees. You can see more of my work on my blog http://happyscrapspace.blogspot.com/

For my first “Anything Goes” project, I have chosen to create a card. My favourite thing to do with the gorgeous, spooky girl stamps is to stamp them multiple times on different pattern papers, cut them out and piece together. I like to start with book paper and build up the layers from there. It is also fun to use multiple stamps to create a scene. I created a ‘moody’ background using Distress Inks and Glimmermists.

On this card I have used the following stamps:
